Description of the workplace
The research group, led by Professor Yvonne Lundberg Giwercman, focuses on disorders of the reproductive system of women and men. More information can be found here. The employment is located to Lund University, CRC, Malmö.

Work duties 
Globally, approximately 250 000 hormone stimulations of women undergoing in vitro fertilization or egg donation are annually performed. About 70% of these trials fail, and in some cases so called hyperstimulation happens, which can be a serious condition. The aim of the project is to investigate factors that are regulating the hormone response, to increase the precision and diminish the side effects of the treatments.

The project includes keeping up to date with the state-of-the-art in the research field, working with clinical patient materials, perform genotyping, gene expression analyses, ELISA, cell culturing, FACS, statistical calculations e t c. The student will work with both national and international collaborators and is expected to attend relevant meetings and congresses.  The student may also be engaged in supervision of bachelor and master students.

Qualifications

Requirements for the position are:

  • a degree at advanced level (master's or equivalent) in a relevant subject such as medicine, biomedicine, or molecular biology
  • proficiency, previous practical laboratory work
  • ability to express oneself orally and in writing in both Swedish and English at a high level

Meritorious for employment is:

  • theoretical knowledge and practical experience in human genetics, endocrinology, or related subjects such as reproductive medicine

To assess the ability of the applicant to benefit from and to assimilate the research training, academic and practical skills, and the ability of the applicant to collaborate as well as to work independently, ability to express oneself in speech and writing, organize and plan, as well as personal qualities such as commitment and motivation will be considered.

Eligibility
Basic eligibility for education at postgraduate level is for those who have completed a degree at advanced level, completed course requirements of at least 240 higher education credits, of which at least 60 higher education credits at advanced level, or in some other way within or outside the country acquired essentially equivalent knowledge.

Basis for assessment     
Regulations for employment as a doctoral student can be found in regulation SFS 1998:80. Only those who have been admitted to education at research level may be appointed as holders. When appointing, attention must be paid primarily to the degree of the ability to assimilate the postgraduate education. In addition to the obligation to engage in their own postgraduate education, the holder may be required to perform duties related to education, research and administrative work according to special provisions in the regulation.

Terms of employment
The employment is limited to four years according to HF chapter 5 § 7 and is full-time. Start date is 2023-10-01 or as agreed.
