Description of the workplace 

At the research group for Neural Plasticity and Repair (NPR), research is conducted in neuroscience. The research has been at the forefront of the field for years. The group is led by Professor Jia-Yi Li and consists of both research and technical staff. The NPR is located at the Biomedical Center (A10) in Lund. We are hereby looking for a driven research engineer. The employment is part time  80%,  fixed term employment  for 12 months with the desired entry date of January 2024 or as agreed.

Work duties and areas of responsibility

Investigate the disease protein alpha-synuclein and Tau aggregation and propagation and influencing factors. The candidate will perform cell culture experiments and data analyses, in models of Parkinson's disease and Alzheimer's disease and search for early targets for intervention.

Qualifications 

Required qualifications:

-  PhD in neurobiology or neuroscience

- Documented expertise in cell models of Parkinson's and Alzheimer's diseases, protein production and aggregation of amyloid proteins in vitro.

Desired qualifications:

- Knowledge and practical experience of live cell imaging, confocal microscopy, and knowledge of label-free optical photothermal infrared super-resolution microscopectroscopy (OPTIR) and soft X-ray spectromicroscopy (STIXM).

- Good knowledge of English

- Ability to work well in a group.

 Further information 

This is 12 months fixed term employment part time (80%). Start date is January 1st 2024 or as agreed.
