Lund University welcomes applicants with diverse backgrounds and experiences. We regard gender equality and diversity as a strength and an asset.
The position is within the division of Communications Engineering at the Department of Electrical and Information Technology at LTH in Lund. The division has 13 senior researchers, around 20 PhD students and work with wireless communication in a wide sense. This includes communication theory, channel measurements/modeling, implementation of advanced test beds, and control and estimation over and of wireless networks. The position is to a large extent funded by Wallenberg AI, Autonomous Systems and Software Program, WASP.
The research area for this position covers distributed control, optimization, and wireless communication. More precisely this comprises two parts, where the first part covers new theory for nonlinear distributed autonomous systems, and the second part covers theory and methods for optimization and control over and control of wireless communication networks. The focus in the first part is on consensus, synchronization and formation control problems involving rotation matrices and unit vectors. The focus in the second part is on modeling of wireless communication and incorporation of techniques from optimization and machine learning, for design of efficient methods for joint optimization, control and sensing with wireless communication for distributed autonomous systems.
The main duties involved in a post-doctoral position is to conduct research. Teaching may also be included, but up to no more than 20% of working hours. The position includes the opportunity for three weeks of training in higher education teaching and learning. The purpose of the position is to develop independence as a researcher and to create the opportunity of further development.
The key work duty for the position is to conduct research within the subject area. Initially, you will work on distributed nonlinear autonomous systems involving rotation matrices and unit vectors, where properties such as synchronization, consensus and formation control are investigated. You will investigate convergence and regions of attractions for such connected systems. Subsequently, you will focus on leveraging such results, as well as developing new ones, for control and optimization of wirelessly connected cooperative autonomous systems. This includes using wireless communication for distributed control of autonomous systems such as vehicles, but it also includes control of the wireless communication itself, where properties of the wireless link are accounted for. You may also work on related topics such as positioning and pose estimation. All-in-all you are expected to use techniques and theory from the areas of automatic control, optimization, and wireless communications to derive new and exciting results in this joint domain of research. Furthermore, as part of these research activities, you are expected to

Appointment to a post-doctoral position requires that the applicant has a PhD, or an international degree deemed equivalent to a PhD, within the subject of the position. The certificate proving the qualification requirement is met, must be received before the employment decision is made. Priority will be given to candidates who have graduated no more than three years ago before the last day for application. Under special circumstances, the doctoral degree can have been completed earlier.
Additional requirements:
This is a career development position primarily focused on research. The position is intended as an initial step in a career, and the assessment of the applicants will primarily be based on their research qualifications and potential as researchers. Particular emphasis will be placed on research skills within the subject.
For appointments to a post-doctoral position, the following shall form the assessment criteria:
Other qualifications:
Consideration will also be given to how the applicant’s experience and skills complement and strengthen ongoing research within the department, and how they stand to contribute to its future development.
