Lunds universitet, Naturvetenskapliga fakulteten, Biologiska institutionen

Lund University was founded in 1666 and is repeatedly ranked among the world’s top universities. The University has around 47 000 students and more than 8 800 staff based in Lund, Helsingborg and Malmö. We are united in our efforts to understand, explain and improve our world and the human condition.

Lund University welcomes applicants with diverse backgrounds and experiences. We regard gender equality and diversity as a strength and an asset.

Work duties

The researcher will do molecular genetic lab-work, for example prepare samples for high-throughput sequencing, run qPCRs and develop protocols for long-range PCRs, but also analyze complex bioinformatic data related to immune genes, so called Major Histocompatibility Complex genes, in wild songbirds. The researcher will be part of the research group of Prof Helena Westerdahl at the Molecular Ecology and Evolution Lab (MEEL), Department of Biology, Lund University, Sweden. MEEL constitutes a strong research environment with eight PI’s, their PhD students and PostDocs, master project students and visiting scientists, in total 25-30 persons. MEEL spans several research areas and many study organisms and is interconnected by many within-group collaborations and shared (molecular-, immunological-, genetic- and genomic-) methods. The focus of the studies is on wild organisms in their natural environments (and often their parasites and/or immune protection). For more information about MEEL see:
