Workplace

The research group in Transfusion Medicine is located at the Department of Laboratory Medicine at the Faculty of Medicine. We work primarily with the biology of the red blood cell and especially with the genetics, structure and function of our blood groups. Currently, we are about ten members of the research group, which is physically located at the Biomedical Centre (BMC) in Lund. The group includes different categories/expertise, e.g. physicians, biomedical analysts, molecular biologists and bioinformists.Through close dialogue and good communication in the group, we have fun when we work together. The research group is led by Professor/Chief Physician Martin L Olsson (www.med.lu.se/martinlolsson), who holds weekly meetings with all employees. The work in the laboratory is led by a lab manager. Duties and responsibilities
You will work with blood group regulation, both experimentally in the laboratory and with bioinformatics at the computer. The task will be to complete projects after a doctoral project. Working hours are normally 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. with one hour set aside for lunch.

Requirements for the position are:
You have relevant education in the life sciences, at least at M.Sc. level. You possess in-depth knowledge of erythrocyte biology, blood group serology and genetics, and bioinformatics. You are expected to be able to work independently in the laboratory and with bioinformatics.

Additional qualifications for the position are:
It is meritorious if you have good knowledge of and experience of methods important to be able to carry out project work on blood group regulation, e.g. EMSA, luciferase, flow cytometry, molecular biology, protein chemistry methods such as Western blot, analysis of NGS and CHIP data, bioinformatics methods. It is also meritorious if you have worked with blood group analysis, e.g. hemagglutination and similar methods before, e.g. in clinical practice.

The position is a fixed-term employment for 4 months at 100% with a start date of March 1, 2024. Thus, the end date is 240630.
