Division of Tumor Microenvironment
The research group conducts translational studies in the field of brain tumors. A central part of this work requires coworkers with special expertise in advanced proteomics and tumor biology. The activities are conducted by doctors, doctoral students, nurses, postdoctoral researchers, research engineers and assistant researchers in the Kamprad Building, SUS Lund, in an environment with several research groups in cancer research.

The research group is now looking for a driven and motivated candidate for PhD studies. The position is a full-time employment for 48 months. The proposed starting date is 1 April 2024 or upon agreement.

Work assignments
PhD studies in project "The tumor microenvironment of malignant brain tumors".

The work duties include experimental work and analysis of clinical samples and primary tumor cell model systems. More specifically, the aim is to identify internalizing surface antigens for antibody-based targeting of the tumor niche and to study the role of macrophages and T cells in tumor development. The results are expected to form the basis of a doctoral thesis.

Qualifications

  • A university degree or equivalent foreign education in medicine, biomedicine or molecular biology is a requirement.
  • Experience of working with immune cells (macrophages, T cells, etc.).
  • Good communication and collaboration skills.

 

Eligibility
Students with basic eligibility for third-cycle studies are those who- have completed a second-cycle degree- have completed courses of at least 240 credits, of which at least 60 credits are from second-cycle courses, or- have acquired largely equivalent knowledge in some other way, in Sweden or abroad.

The employment of doctoral students is regulated in the Swedish Code of Statues 1998: 80. Only those who are or have been admitted to PhD-studies may be appointed to doctoral studentships. When an appointment to a doctoral studentship is made, the ability of the student to benefit from PhD-studies shall primarily be taken into account. In addition to devoting themselves to their studies, those appointed to doctoral studentships may be required to work with educational tasks, research and administration, in accordance with specific regulations in the ordinance.

The Department of Clinical Sciences Lund is one of six departments at the Faculty of Medicine. Clinical Sciences Lund cooperates closely with Skåne University Hospital and the Faculty of Medicine in order to optimize the conditions for preclinical and clinical translational research, research strategies and development, as well as education on both undergraduate and postgraduate levels.
