Description of the workplace

We're seeking a curious, driven candidate with experience in computational biology and systems biology for a Data-Driven Life Sciences (DDLS) postdoc position at the Systems Immunology Lab, Faculty of Medicine. Led by Assistant Prof. Camila Consiglio, our team employs high-throughput multiomics technologies and advanced computational methods to explore sex differences in human immunity. The postdoc project aims to use systems-level methodologies to investigate the impact of biological sex on human immunity.

Work duties 

The computational biology postdoc will apply systems immunology methods to comprehensively profile the human immune system using various high-throughput technologies. The assignment comprises transcriptomic (bulk and sc-mRNA-seq), epigenomic (ATACseq, CUT&RUN), proteomic (Olink assays), and compositional, metabolic and immunophenotypic profiling (high dimensional cytometry).

Work responsibilities include data curation and processing, and composition, editing or executing of computational scripts/workflows. Other work duties include project management, writing of grants and manuscripts, presenting at national and international conferences, attendance at seminars, informal mentorship of other employees, and working collaboratively with lab members and collaborators.

Qualifications

Requirements for employment are:

  • PhD within Systems Biology, Bioinformatics, Statistics, Quantitative biology or a related discipline.
  • Fluency in computational programming.
  • Experience in computational biology/ systems biology/ omics data analysis.
  • Interest in immunology research.
  • Familiarity with best practices in reproducibility and open science.
  • Proficiency in oral and written communication in English.
  • Strong communication, presentation and writing skills.
  • Willingness to collaborate.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Patient, detail-oriented and precise.

 The following are considered to be a merit:

  • Specific interest in human immunology, sexual dimorphism, and systems immunology.
  • Experience with curation, preprocessing, analysis and/or integration of bulk RNAseq, scRNAseq, and other types of omics data.
  • Familiarity with git and GitHub.
  • Experience in utilizing high performance computing clusters.

Further information

Temporary employment of two years. Full-term position with the desired start date of March 2024, or according to agreement.
