Description of the workplace
The research group for the genetics of soft tissue tumors conducts research in which genetic changes that characterize different types of soft tissue tumors are studied, and the impact these changes have on the cell and patient level is assessed. The group is led by Professor Fredrik Mertens and consists of both research and technical staff. The business is located at the Biomedical Center in Lund. Work duties and areas of responsibility
The work will consist of analyzing sequencing data from soft tissue tumors, as well as reporting results in various scientific contexts (articles, conferences, etc). 

Qualifications
The position as bioinformatician is available for someone with a doctoral degree in genetics/biology/medicine and who has completed at least 3 years of post-doctoral work before the end of the application period.

The requirements for the position are:

  • Good ability to develop and carry out high quality research.
  • A PhD in a relevant subject (MPS-based studies of neoplasia). The PhD degree should have been obtained during the period 2018-2021.
  • Previous hands-on experience from MPS-based studies, including transcriptomic and genomic data.
  • Expertise in the analysis of epigenetic data from neoplasms.
  • Expertise in sarcoma biology, as supported by publications in peer-reviewed journals.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.

Meritorious for the position:

  • Previous experience from performing multi-omics studies on sarcomas.

Great emphasis will be placed on personal characteristics. The assignments require that you have the ability to work independently as well as in a team.

The employment is a permanent full time employment with the desired starting date September
1st 2024 or according to agreement. Probationary employment of 6 months may be applied.
