Work duties

The work includes field- and laboratory work in connection with a research project on remote sensing in agriculture, carried out in collaboration with the Swedish University of Agricultural Science, and international partners.

The field work is to be conducted in agricultural areas in the south of Sweden. The work days will be spent outdoors to sample biomass in selected research plots. The assistant will help in collecting plants, organize them in bags, and carry out different crop-related measurements (plant height, LAI, chlorophyll, water content, etc.) in the field plots. Outdoor clothes to protect from rain, wind or sun is required for this work.

The laboratory component consists of sorting of plants in different fragments (root, stem, leaf, ears), drying and weighing them, and estimation of some plant specific traits. The data will be used in analyses of remotely sensed data for crop monitoring, and any collected data will be made available to the assistant for further use in BSc/MSc work.

 Qualifications

  • Enrolled in or finished university education in physical geography, environmental science, biology, geology or similar.
  • The work requires the ability to walk and work without physical limitations.

Other merits

  • Driver’s license is an advantage.
  • Previous experience and interest in field and laboratory work is an advantage.
  • Knowledge related to plant science, agriculture or field biology is an advantage.

Terms of employment

Time limited 20% employment during May, June and July 2024.
