Neuromorphic quantum circuits based on quantum dots. Contact person: Martin Leijnse

Neuromorphic circuits imitate the human brain on a hardware level and has potential to dramatically improve the efficiency of artificial intelligence and machine learning applications. Quantum computers use quantum effects like superpositions and entanglement to perform certain classes of calculations much faster than would be possible with a classical computer. In this project you will explore the synthesis between these two new computing paradigms by exploring the concept of neuromorphic quantum circuits. We will focus on networks of coupled quantum dots, where signals are transmitted by electrons tunneling between the dots. This is a theoretical project which is based on a mix between analytical calculations and numerical simulations based on software developed in the research group.
