Work duties

We are seeking a Field assistant/Lab technician/Data curator to work on a long term bluetit project. The work includes:

  • Fieldwork where independent work will be done catching, sampling and measuring wild birds in the field.
  • Data curation of digitalizing long-term phenological data for the blue tit population
  • DNA-extraction, molecular malaria screening and curating of collected samples


Qualifications

  • Msc in biology with a degree in Ecology, Evolutionary biology or conservation at the start of the employment
  • Documented experience in catching and handling of wild birds, preferable blue tits.
  • Documented experience in DNA extraction
  • Documented experience in malaria screening
  • Documented experience in analytic analysis of sequence data.
  • Experience in lab documentation.
  • Experience in data curation for databases.
  • Driver’s license
  • Fluent in either Swedish or English


Other merits

  •  Previous knowledge of the position of the nest boxes at Revinge.
  •  Passed, for the project, the relevant animal ethics and handling course for birds.

Terms of employment

Temporary positions for 10 months at full time, start 1 May 2024.
