Work description
We are looking for a research assistant to help out with culturing and analysis of malaria and babesia parasites. This person needs to be able to do this work independently and be used to judging different life cycle stages of the parasites, to be able to give treatment and nutrients at the correct time points

Qualifications

Requirements for employment:
A requirement for this position is competence and experience in culturing both malaria and babesia parasites. You need to be able to work independently and take responsibility for the cultures. You need to be able to judge at what stage in the life cycle the parasites are, when they need to get new nutrients and how to treat them and how to stain them and count them.

You need to be able to communicate fluently in English.

You need to have a PhD.

Additional qualifications for the position are:
Experience in flow cytometry and surface plasmon resonance is an advantage, as well as a broad experience in basic laboratory work.

It is also an advantage if you have been running studies of different patient cohorts and are used to ethical applications.

It is an advantage with experience from teaching, since we have both undergraduate students and PhD students that need guidance.

Further information
The position is a fixed term position SÄVA for 6 months at 100% per cent of full time and starting in  2024-05-01 or according to agreement.
