Work duties

The Department of Chemistry is an intellectually stimulating international environment with research groups that include ultrafast spectroscopy, photocatalysis, inorganic chemistry, materials science, and nanotechnology. A recently established research group in Nanochemistry and Spectroscopy (BUL Dmitry Baranov) is looking for a project assistant for the summer term to help design optical setup for optical characterization of nano-superstructures for the ERC project Prometheus.

Project assistant duties include participation in research in the field of photonics and optical design. The main goal of this position is to assist with the design of the optical microscope and photon bunching interferometer being constructed in the laboratories at the Division of Chemical Physics.

The duties of this position include:

  • Participation in research
  • Simulation of optical rays and electric fields passing through optical components (lenses, mirrors) using FRED or similar software
  • Presentation of results
  • Filling in time reports with a summary of activities

Qualifications

  • Education level of a bachelor's degree in physics, materials science or a related field or equivalent education that the employer deems relevant
  • Very good knowledge of Swedish and English, both spoken and written
  • Knowledge of optics and photonics
  • Previous experience in optical design
  • Independence, ability to collaborate and work in a team

Other merits

  • Ability to write academic texts

Terms of employment

The employment is 50% of full-time, for a fixed period of eight to nine weeks.
