Description of the workplace

Industrial electrical engineering is focused on technology and systems for electrical and electromechanical energy conversion. The subject is by nature interdisciplinary with strong elements of electromagnetism, power electronics and electronics, materials technology, electrical machine design, control technology, as well as real-time systems, industrial automation, and electrical measurement technology.

The subject is linked to industrial automation where research problems at a more general system level are included. Research in industrial electrical engineering is often inspired by industrial problems.

IEA has around 40 co-workers of which 20 are doctoral students. We are engaged in both extensive teaching and industrially applied research. The research is divided into four research groups with close collaboration.

Description of the work duties:

  • development of a model building method for electrification of power and energy-intensive systems such as agriculture, mining, road construction etc. The models will be used for analysis and synthesis of vehicle systems, local generation, local storage and charging solutions that together create the conditions for a commercially competitive operation. The work is carried out by building an understanding of the work processes that characterize the applications and looking for common denominators as a basis for a model building.
  • teaching in the first, second and third cycles of studies (max 20%).
