The position is located within the Faculty of Medicine. Departmental placement will be determined at the time of appointment. Premises, other infrastructure and resources for the position are financed in accordance with the standard model used by the Faculty.

The position is combined with a position as specialist or senior physician.

Work duties
The duties mainly include independent research and development work, supervision of M.Sc. and PhD students, but also teaching in first- and second cycle education, leadership and administration. Additional work duties may also be included.

Qualifications
Chapter 4, section 4 of the Higher Education Ordinance states that a person shall be qualified for
appointment as Senior Lecturer if he or she has demonstrated teaching expertise and been awarded a PhD or has corresponding research competence or some other professional expertise that is of value in view of the subject matter of the post and the duties that it will involve.

The successful applicant is to have completed at least five weeks of training in teaching and learning in higher education or have acquired corresponding skills, unless there are valid reasons.
In such cases, the appointee is to complete the required training in teaching and learning in higher education within the first two years of employment.

The position is combined with employment as a specialist or senior physician. The applicant is to have certificate of specialist competence and required to have the necessary proficiency in the Swedish language as defined by the National Board of Health and Welfare (the National Board of Health and Welfare can also certify equivalent proficiency in Norwegian or Danish) upon admission.

Basis for assessment
The applicant is to have demonstrated research and teaching expertise of significance for the subject. In ranking qualified applicants, particular weight will be attached to scientific skills.
The applicant shall have demonstrated scientific skill through maintaining a high national and
international standard as a researcher and should possess well substantiated scientific competence. The applicant is to hold a PhD in a subject area of relevance to the position.

The applicant's scientific skills are proven by independently performed research, for example by having ongoing research funding as the principal applicant in national or international competition, experience of post-doc position in an environment other than where the applicant received her/his PhD, and publications in journals with a peer review system. Special considiration will be given to publications with the applicant as senior author.

Importance shall also be attached to teaching skills and the ability to supervise M.Sc. and PhD students. The applicant is to have demonstrated expertise in teaching and supervision in first, second- and thirdcycle education. Skills in leadership, ability to co-operate and ability to integrate with the surrounding community will also be taken into consideration. Since the position is to be combined with clinical position, experience of independent work within healthcare where the applicant has current clinical activities is required.

Scientific development potential will be especially emphasized.

For teaching staff at Lund University, there is a general qualification requirement to be suitable for the position and in other respects possess the ability to perform the duties well.
