Description of the workplace
At the Division of Clinical Genetics, Department of Laboratory Medicine, we are looking for an Associate Researcher to work on a project aimed at understanding how blood cancer cells interact with the immune system. A particular goal is to use antibodies directed against blood cancer cells or immunological cells to identify new treatment strategies. The research group is led by Professor Thoas Fioretos and includes about 10 members with expertise in advanced flow cytometry, single-cell analysis, bioinformatics, antibody technology, and experimental in vitro and in vivo studies. The research group is international, works interdisciplinary, and collaborates with several other research groups, healthcare, and the life science industry. We are now seeking an experienced researcher with the ability to work both independently and team-based within the outlined project. Work duties 
Work duties include advanced in vitro and in vivo studies of blood cancer cells and their interaction with different immunological cells. The work involves FACS analyses, in vitro and in vivo analyses of blood cancer cells and their interaction with immunological cells, as well as the development and evaluation of the treatment effects of different antibodies. It may also be relevant to study other types of cancer that use similar mechanisms as blood cancer cells to evade the immune system. You will also publish articles in scientific journals, contribute to conferences, and be active in various collaborative projects with other research groups, healthcare, and actors within the life science industry. The work within the research group is team-based to achieve success in ongoing projects. 

Qualifications
Requirements for employment are:

  • Doctoral degree in experimental clinical genetics or equivalent with a specialization in the field of blood cancer
  • Extensive knowledge and documented experience with work involving both in vitro and in vivo models of blood cancer
  • Extensive knowledge and documented experience with laboratory work involving FACS, blood cancer cells, immunological cells, and therapeutic antibodies
  • Extensive knowledge and documented experience in evaluating the mechanisms of action of therapeutic antibodies (e.g., ADCC, ADCP, CDC)
  • Strong ability to work independently as well as in a team with multiple collaborators
  • At least four scientific publications in the biomedical research field, including at least one first-author publication in the field of blood cancer
  • Proficiency in Swedish and English

Additional qualifications for the position are:

  •  Experience in collaboration with or working within the life science industry, focusing on the development of antibody-based drugs
  • Good ability to write scientific texts and continuously summarize and present scientific results

Scientific skill is the main employment criterion. During the evaluation, research profile, experience and knowledge will be taken into account. Great emphasis will also be placed on personal suitability. The duties require that you can work well in a group.

The employment is a permanent, fulltime position (100%) starting July 1st, 2024, or as soon as possible according to agreement. A probationary period of 6 months may be applied.
