Description of the workplace

The Department of Immunotechnology is dedicated to research in Life Science, including immunology, oncology, and hypersensitivity/allergy. Our modern premises are located at Medicon Village, which hosts academic researchers, Life Science companies and health care actors. Several key infrastructures are available here, including facilities for Spatial Omics, mass spectrometry, flow cytometry, and antibody engineering, as well as NBIS (National Bioinformatics Infrastructure Sweden) bioinformaticians. Application of advanced technology to address complex biomedical challenges has positioned the Department at the forefront of several research areas and generated multiple spin-off companies also located at Medicon Village. You will be part of a research team dedicated to developing precision medicine tools for cancer treatment, which relies on translational research of molecular and cell

Work duties and areas of responsibility

You will be part of a translational research group that studies the tumor microenvironment, with a particular focus on lymphoma.  You will be responsible for practically performing laboratory steps such as staining of tumor tissue and molecular profiling (protein, RNA, DNA) of patient samples. The tasks also include analysis of generated data such as image analysis, and bioinformatic workflows. The project is specifically dedicate to defining and developing tentative novel therapeutic and prognostic targets.

Qualifications

Requirements for employment are:

  • Master’s education in biotechnology, cell biology, molecular biology or equivalent
  • Hands-on experience in bioinformatics such as for example applying R scripts
  • Excellent written and oral English knowledge and skills
  • Excellent collaboration and communication skills

Additional qualifications for the position are:

  • Practical experience in handling tissue and/or human cells
  • Experience of working with protein and/or RNA-related laboratory workflows
  • Practical experience in tissue staining for multiplex immunofluorescence-mediated image analysis. and imaging
  • Experience of working in Qupath
  • Experience in data analysis of patient material and related statistical assessments
  • Knowledge in cell biology and/or immunology

Personal qualities, such as commitment, scientific interest, precision, good communication and cooperation skills, are of particular importance.

Further information

 The position is a substitute/fixed term position for 10 months at 100 % of full time and starting in September 2, 2024 or by agreement, although not beyond 30 September 2024”.
