MAX IV is looking for a Insertion Device Engineer to join the ID group. As a member of the Insertion Devices group, you are responsible for contributing to the design, construction, commissioning, maintenance, and operation of insertion devices at the MAX IV facility with the best quality and standards.

Your main work tasks will be

  • Contributing to designing, constructing, commissioning, maintaining, and operating insertion devices at MAX IV laboratory
  • Precision electromechanical equipment assembly, modifications, troubleshooting, and upgrades
  • Provide essential technical support during operations, ensuring uninterrupted functionality through on-call services
  • Collaborate in the mechanical design and realization of equipment and setups using 3D printing, CAD, and exchange with our in-house mechanical workshop
  • Project Management support for current and future Insertion Device projects and upgrades
  • Maintaining and troubleshooting installed motion control equipment in the insertion device motion control system, such as encoders, electrical motors, and mechanical switches.

To be successful in this role you need to have the following qualifications

  • University degree (Bachelor / Master) in Mechatronics or Mechanical Engineering plus at least 3 years of related work experience
  • Proficiency in SolidWorks Software
  • Fluent in English, both in speech and writing.

  • Knowledge of design and materials for use in ultrahigh vacuum environments
  • Knowledge in permanent magnet handling and assembly requirements
  • Knowledge of PLC systems
  • Knowledge of cryogenics
  • Experience in performing risk analysis regarding personal safety and machine safety.

MAX IV is a Swedish national large-scale research laboratory hosted by Lund University. It provides scientists from Sweden as well as internationally, with state-of-the-art instrumentation for research in areas such as engineering, physics, structural biology, chemistry and nanotechnology. It will receive up to 2 000 scientists annually, conducting ground-breaking experiments in materials and life sciences using the brilliant X-ray light.
