Solution-processed nanomaterials, such as nanoparticles and mesocrystals, offer remarkable tunability of light-generating properties for various applications. Within this landscape, inorganic and hybrid metal halides hold a special place due to their diverse photophysics and structure-property tunability, resulting in bright photoluminescence phenomena. The next generation of optoelectronic devices requires the development of luminescence characteristics beyond simply optimized quantum yield, aiming for efficient performance in other degrees of freedom for emitted light, such as linear and circular polarizations and deterministic and pure photon statistics.
The Nanochemistry and Spectroscopy research group (Asst. Prof. Dmitry Baranov) at the Division of Chemical Physics is seeking a post-doctoral fellow to conduct research in the areas of chemistry, spectroscopy, and the collective properties of metal halide perovskite nanomaterials. This post-doctoral position will focus on developing and enhancing the polarized photoluminescence of halide perovskites to create advanced next-generation light sources, including light-emitting diodes, color converters, micro-lasers, and superfluorescent emitters. The position is supported by the European Innovation Council (EIC) and the recruited postdoctoral researcher will have the opportunity to develop interdisciplinary expertise in nanochemistry, spectroscopy, and nanofabrication. The Division of Chemical Physics offers an intellectually stimulating, international environment with research groups specializing in ultrafast spectroscopy, photocatalysis, inorganic chemistry, materials science, and nanotechnology.
The main duties involved in a post-doctoral posistion is to conduct research. Teaching may also be included, but up to no more than 20% of working hours. The position shall include the opportunity for three weeks of training in higher education teaching and learning.
Appointment to a post-doctoral position requires that the applicant has a PhD, or an international degree deemed equivalent to a PhD, in materials science, chemistry, physics, or a related discipline, completed no more than three years before the date of employment decision. Under special circumstances, the doctoral degree can have been completed earlier.
This is a career development position primarily focused on research. The position is intended as an initial step in a career, and the assessment of the applicants will primarily be based on their research qualifications and potential as researchers.
Particular emphasis will be placed on research skills within the subject.
Consideration will also be given to good collaborative skills, drive and independence, and how the applicant’s experience and skills complement and strengthen ongoing research within the department, and how they stand to contribute to its future development.
This is a full-time, fixed-term employment of 3 years. The start date is by agreement, but no later than 2024-11-01. The period of employment is determined in accordance with the agreement “Avtal om tidsbegränsad anställning som postdoktor” (“Agreement on fixed-term employment as a post-doctoral fellow”) between Lund University, SACO-S and OFR/S, dated 1st February 2022.
