Subject description
Lund University GIS Centre at the Department of Physical Geography and Ecosystem Science is going to expand its research activities in Geospatial Artificial Intelligence. A researcher is going to be employed to help with strengthening and expanding this research direction.

Work duties

  • Research within the subject GeoAI, focused on Geospatial ML and Geospatial GAI.
  • Scientific publications in high-quality journals.
  • Present and discuss novel ideas to the research group.
  • Present research results to the wider research community.
  • Teaching (20%) in the second and third cycles of studies.
  • Supervision of degree projects and doctoral students.
  • Actively seeking external research funding.
  • Collaboration with industry and wider society.
  • Administration related to the work duties listed above.

Qualification requirements

Applicants must have:

  • A PhD within Informatics and modelling, computer science, or similar subjects.
  • Documented skills and/or research track in AI programming, AI algorithms, and AI techniques, including machine learning and generative AI.
  • Documented skills and research track in Geographical Information Systems (GIS), and applications of AI in GIS.
  • Documented skills, research, and teaching experiences in GeoAI.
  • Document skills in writing and publishing research articles.
  • Very good oral and written proficiency in English.
  • Team-work spirit.

Assessment criteria and other qualifications
Assessment will be conducted based on the above-mentioned qualifications of the applicants.

Consideration will also be given to good collaborative skills, drive and independence, and how the applicant’s experience and skills complement and strengthen ongoing research within the department, and how they stand to contribute to its future development.
