Building Services Engineering technology treats - against the background of people's environmental requirements - buildings' indoor climate and energy supply, services systems for heating, cooling, ventilation, water, sanitation and electricity as well as their interaction with the building in general for a more sustainable society. The scientific area includes theoretical and experimental analyzes of building services and building engineering systems as well as system optimization with special focus on cooperation between the building services systems and the building in general, operation and maintenance of the systems, and low resource use.
The Devision of Building Services has just over 10 employees, some of whom are doctoral students. The workplace is in V-huset in Lund, but many of the projects take place in various forms of collaboration within and outside of Lund University.

Subject description
Building Services Engineering includes analysis and dimensioning of a building's technical systems, but also how these systems affect the outdoor environment, indoor environment, and energy use. As part of the subject, circularity is also included for and renovation of various systems where the connection to the building and resource management such as energy supply and the environmental impact of fuel, the environmental impact of building materials and waste management are included. An important tool for this research is life cycle analysis.
Work duties
Employment as an assistant professor is a tenure track position, which aims for the holder to develop their independence as a researcher and educator. The work duties mainly involve research and teaching. The position includes the opportunity to undertake five weeks of training in teaching and learning in higher education.

The employment includes research, teaching and application writing linked to new construction, renovation and circular processes for buildings with their building services and materials as well as the built environment in general.
Qualification requirements
Qualification requirements for employment as an assistant professor are fulfilled by someone who has been awarded a doctorate or has the corresponding research competence.
Primary consideration should be given to someone who has been awarded a doctorate or achieved the equivalent competence within five years of the deadline for application for employment as an assistant professor. However, someone who has been awarded a doctorate or achieved the equivalent expertise at an earlier date may also be considered if there are special grounds. Special grounds are sick leave, parental leave or other similar circumstances.

The extent to which the applicant, through their experience and skills, may complement and strengthen ongoing research, undergraduate education, departmental innovation, and how they can contribute to the future development of the department will also be taken into consideration.
Terms of employment
This is a full-time, fixed-term employment of 6 years. The employment is regulated in accordance with Chapter 4 Section 12a§ HEA. The purpose of the appointment is for the teacher to be given the opportunity to develop research autonomy and acquire the scholarly and teaching qualifications required for eligibility for appointment as a senior lecturer.
