Description of the work place
At the research group for Respiratory Cell Biology, research is conducted on chronic respiratory diseases. For several years, the research has been at the forefront of the mast cell field, where we use mast cells and their mediators as well as epithelial cell lines and primary epithelial cells from the lung to create and study in vitro models of mast cell interaction with the airway epithelium. Our focus is to study these interactions through different imaging techniques such as live cell imaging. The group is led by university lecturer Cecilia Andersson. Work duties and responsibilities
In this project, you will work with inflammatory mechanisms in respiratory diseases with an overall goal of finding new mechanisms with regard to mast cell-epithelial interactions in asthma. The current methods concern histological methods, establishment of primary cell cultures and co-culture models from patients with respiratory diseases. The project has major focus on work with techniques within the "live-cell imaging" field.
Qualifications
Required qualifications:
Experience of cellular work with primary human epithelial cells from lung
- Experience with live cell imaging techniques such as Holomonitor M4.
- Work with mast cells in vitro and mast cell proteases
- Differentiation of primary epithelial cells and air liquid interface (ALI) cultures
- Good ability to present research in speech and writing
- Good scientific ability to plan and analyze experiments
Experience with the following techniques:
- High throughput imaging analysis
- Western blot
-Immunohistochemistry and imaging of mast cells in human lung and other species
-qPCR
-Measurements of transepithelial electrical resistance
- FITC Dextran assay
- Luminex multiplex assays
Additional qualifications:
- Good ability to function well in collaborative projects both within the group and with other research groups as well as with other disciplines
- Personal characteristics such as structured, meticulous, persistent and with a great interest in respiratory diseases and mast cell biology
Other information
The employment is a fixed-term employment for 3 months at 100 percent with a start date of October 26, 2024 or as agreed.
