Work duties
The programmer will work on developing and maintaining code bases underlying research in the ecosystem modelling group. This is primarily anticipated to involve working on codes to integrate observational data into a standardised database and analyse this data. It may also involve working on other virtual infrastructures, for instance the LPJ-GUESS vegetation model, as required. The programmer will be expected to interface with external partners to facilitate integration of observations and to keep track of associated agreements and permissions. They are also expected to carry out administration and communication activities related to their main activities. These duties may evolve over time as mandated by the needs of the research group and in consultation with the programmer.

Qualifications

  • Masters degree in geomatics.
  • Worklife experience in working with large forest inventory datasets.
  • At least two years worklife experience in code development.
  • Worklife experience in working with vegetation model benchmarking systems, especially for the LPJ-GUESS model.
  • Professional fluency in English in speaking and writing.

Other merits

  • Knowledge of forest systems and forest inventory datasets.
  • Competence in R programming.
  • Evidence of ability to work on own initiative and to develop good quality cod

Terms of employment
Permanent full-time position with preferred start date of 1st January 2025.
