Description of the workplace
The Stroke Imaging Research Group is led by Associate Professor Johan Wasselius. We conduct clinical research in neuroradiology, imaging, and interventional neuroradiological treatment of stroke and other conditions.

Recent medical advances have provided effective tools for successfully treating ischemic stroke, but most patients arrive too late to benefit from treatment. Early stroke detection and diagnosis are therefore critical to expanding these effective treatments to a larger proportion of stroke patients. The frustration of having access to effective treatment, but only being able to apply it to a small fraction of patients who arrive in time, led our team to form with the goal of developing new methods for early stroke indication and diagnosis. Region Skåne is an ideal place to develop such innovative methods, as the university, university hospital, and leading tech companies are all within walking distance. – Our overarching goal is to increase the proportion of patients treated for acute stroke by using new methods for early detection and diagnosis.

The research group is based at Skåne University Hospital in Lund. Within our group, we value a good working environment with respect and care in our interactions. We constantly strive to create conditions that foster job satisfaction, development, and involvement for all members.

We are seeking a motivated PhD candidate to conduct research in advanced imaging diagnostics for interventional neuroradiological treatment. The desired start date is 2024-09-01 or as agreed.
