Lund University is hiring researchers in economic history. The position is for 6 months starting in March 2025, based at the Department of Economic History, School of Economics and Management. The position is 100 percent.

Subject Area and Responsibilities

The subject area is economic history.

The responsibilities include research. The project for which the position is being filled focuses on research concerning regional growth in Scandinavia, the Baltic States, Russia, and Northern Europe from a broader perspective. The role includes working with our researchers to process and harmonize datasets, run statistical models, and write research articles.

Eligibility

A Ph.D. in economic history is required for eligibility. Expertise in economic history, historical microeconometrics, and experience working with historical data at various levels of aggregation, preferably with a focus on regional economics, is also required.

Assessment Criteria

In the overall assessment of scientific competence, publication in journals or with publishers that have an international peer review system is highly meriting, as is experience of international collaboration and participation in research networks. The ability to work independently and produce scientific work is strongly meriting for this position. Publications in economic history, particularly with a focus on regional economics, are especially valued. Experience conducting research in countries in Scandinavia, the Baltic States, Russia, and more broadly defined Northern Europe is meriting. Furthermore, the degree of ability to collaborate with the surrounding community and to communicate research is considered.

Consideration will be given to how the applicant's experience and competencies can complement and strengthen research and education within the department. Experience in teaching and supervising in the field of economic history is also meriting.
