Description of the workplace
The postdoc will work in the Cardiac MR-group, Clinical Physiology, Department of Clinical Sciences Lund. This multidisciplinary group of about 40 researchers consists of medical doctors, engineers, physicists, technologists, and physiotherapists.

Tasks and areas of responsibility
At Lund University, a postdoctoral position is intended to provide opportunities for scientific and pedagogical qualifications. Primarily, there is room for research qualifications, but also for some higher education pedagogical training. Teaching may also be part of the duties.

As a postdoctoral researcher in the Cardiac MRI group, you will mainly work with the following tasks:

  • Development of post-processing and image reconstruction methods in fetal MRI using artificial intelligence and machine learning.
  • Optimization and validation of MRI methods for fetal imaging.
  • Writing scientific articles for publication in international journals.

Other duties may also arise.

Eligibility
Eligibility for employment as a postdoctoral researcher is limited to those who have a doctoral degree or a foreign degree deemed equivalent to a doctoral degree. This eligibility requirement must be fulfilled at the latest by the time the appointment decision is made, and proof that the eligibility requirement has been fulfilled must have been received by that time. Preference will be given to those who have completed their degree no more than three (3) years ago. If there are special reasons, the doctoral degree may have been obtained earlier. Special reasons refer to leave of absence due to illness, parental leave, clinical service, positions of trust in trade union organisations or other similar circumstances.

Assessment criteria
At Lund University, a postdoctoral position shall provide the opportunity for scientific and educational merit. In the first instance, there is scope for merit in research, but also for some higher education pedagogical training. Teaching may also be included in the duties. In the case of employment as a postdoctoral researcher, scientific ability in the subject area will be taken into account.

Requirements for the position:

  • Completed PhD (doctoral degree) with content relevant to the tasks of the project.
  • Experience with artificial intelligence and machine learning in medical science.
  • Knowledge and skills in writing scientific articles for publication in international scientific journals.
  • Fluency or advanced proficiency in the English language, both spoken and written.

Additional qualifications for the position:

  • Experience in the development of acquisition and post-processing methods for MRI images.
  • Fluency in Swedish, both spoken and written.
  • Experience in programming (preferably Matlab)

Great emphasis will be placed on personal qualities. The position require the ability to work independently as well as in a team.

Terms and conditions
The position is a fixed-term position of two years, 100 % with the desired start date 2024-12-01, or as agreed. Employment at Lund University is conducted in Sweden, you are therefore expected to be able to perform your work on site in Lund.

An employment as a post-doctoral fellow  is limited to a minimum of two years, maximum three years according to the collective agreement on fixed-term employment as a postdoctoral fellow (Arbetsgivarverket). An employment as a postdoctoral fellow is intended as an initial step in the career and as an opportunity to further deepen and broaden research expertise.
