Lund University, Faculty of Fine and Performing Arts,

Lund University was founded in 1666 and is repeatedly ranked among the world’s top universities. The University has around 47 000 students and more than 8 800 staff based in Lund, Helsingborg and Malmö. We are united in our efforts to understand, explain and improve our world and the human condition.

Lund University welcomes applicants with diverse backgrounds and experiences. We regard gender equality and diversity as a strength and an asset.

The Faculty of Fine and Performing Arts is one of eight faculties within Lund University and includes Malmö Art Academy, Malmö Academy of Music and Malmö Theatre Academy, also Inter Arts Center and Choral Centre South. The Faculty of Fine and Performing Arts offers Bachelor and Master programs in visual art, music and drama, and various courses of different extent. The Faculty also runs third cycle (postgraduate) studies in artistic research and music education.

The studies at Malmö Art Academy have an international focus. The academy seeks to combine theory and practice into an artistic mindset. Great importance is placed on proximity to the current art scene, both nationally and internationally. Activities at the academy are flexible with an emphasis on the students’ individual development, where each student, using the academy’s courses and other teaching activities as a basis, sets up their own programme of studies, in consultation with the academy’s teaching staff. The students at the academy employ many different expressions and techniques in their work, both conceptually and as part of a process.

In general, the academy’s staff teach in the form of study blocks, so that the student’s own artistic activities can run in parallel with teaching. The academy has also developed a system that includes visiting lecturers, primarily in the form of external supervisors.
