The division of Biotechnology, located at Kemicentrum in Lund, consists of about 40 researchers and teachers. The research activities are focused on various aspects of environmental-, analytical-, food- medical- and industrial biotechnology and consist of both basic and applied research. The division takes active part in teaching at the undergraduate level in the Biotechnology Engineering programme and International Masters programme in Biotechnology at Faculty of Engineering (LTH).
As a teaching assistant, your tasks may vary and should provide insight into the academic world at the faculty where you are studying. The position is based on a collaboration between the BioOrg and fermentation groups, which work on industrial biotechnology-based research projects. The groups specialize, among other things, in the valorization of industrial waste streams and in production and synthesis using biotechnological methods, with a particular focus on enzymes and microorganisms. This position will contribute to an ongoing research project funded by Vinnova to refine waste streams from the food industry in the form of potatoes and seaweed, with a particular focus on the fermentation of so-called “single-cell protein” and improving flavor.

Eligible to be employed as an teaching assistant is anyone who has been admitted to a first or second cycle programme at the Faculty (or related subject for the joint departments). The degree may not be completed.

The position is a fixed term position for 2024-11-20 – 2025-06-08 period at 50 per cent of full time. The employment as a Teaching Assistant is regulated in the Higher Education Ordinance (SFS 2017:284), 5 chapter 8-12 §§. The position is covered by the Flexitime Agreement for T/A staff.
