The Department is looking for a project assistant on the FORMAS project “fair gold? Institutionalising labour and environmental standards along the certified gold supply chain”, who specializes in mining, business and human rights.

Assignments

This position is for a project assistant to assist with social science data collection on the web, data cleaning and analysing. The assistant to be hired is expected to contribute to the project through supporting research on the above-mentioned project, and will be guided by the project leader. Previous research experience in academia or non-profit sector, through web-scraping or similar methods, independently and in teams, on mining, business and human rights is highly regarded.

Qualifications and assessment

To be appointed as a project assistant requires Masters’ level education in human rights, or another field of relevance to the position.

The applicants must be able to demonstrate:

  • research expertise through the quality of their education assignments and/or other publications,
  • experience and/or methodological qualifications in web-scraping or similar research methods and/or training
  • experience in research on mining, business and human rights
  • experience working in teams on research assignments and work independence
  • Fluent English (written and spoken) is a requirement.

The expected start date is February 1st. Remote work is not possible for this position. Applicants are expected to indicate in the application when – if offered the position – they would be able to start.
