Subject description
We are recruiting a postdoctoral fellow to the project “Genetic monitoring of connectivity, diversity and adaptive potential”. This project aims to deploy landscape genomic methods evaluate the importance of green infrastructure for gene flow and connectivity. The project will consist in work with low coverage whole genome data using an ANGSD-based snake-make pipeline, and advanced landscape genomic analyses and simulations addressing to which extent the prevalence of green infrastructure increase connectivity. The project will be supervised by Associate Senior Lecturers Anna Runemark and Maj Rundlöf at Department of Biology, Lund University, and performed in collaboration with postdoctoral fellow Isolde van Riemsdijk, University of Copenhagen. The work is funded by and will be set within the interdisciplinary research environment Biodiversity and Ecosystem Services in a Changing Climate.
Work duties
The main duty is to perform research, including designing landscape genomic studies and sampling strategies, supervising an internship student performing field work to sample genetic material, extractions of genetic material and performing bioinformatical- and landscape genomic analyses. Specifically, low coverage whole genome data will be produced and analyzed using ANGSD and different landscape genomic scenarios modelled using SLIM. The post-doctoral fellow is expected to take active part in the lab group activities. There will be opportunities to develop smaller independent projects and apply for smaller research grants to fund these.
Qualification requirements
Assessment criteria and other qualifications
This is a career development position primarily focused on research, and the career age of the applicant will be taken into consideration. The main assessment criteria are
Consideration will also be given to good collaborative skills, drive and independence, and how the applicant’s experience and skills complement and strengthen ongoing research within the lab group and department, and how they stand to contribute to its future development.
