Both applied and fundamental research is conducted at the division of Biotechnology and Applied Microbiologyn in the field of biotechnology, focusing on microbial physiology, precision fermentation, synthetic biology, bioinformatics, enzymes, and enzymatic processes. The purpose of the research is often linked to the development of technology to create sustainable and circular solutions for products and services with applications in the environment, analysis, food, water, agriculture, medicine, and industrial biotechnology for the production of materials, chemicals, and fuels.

Work duties 

Experimental work within a Swedish Energy Agency financed project “Creative Construction of Defossilized Value Chains - CROSS”. The work involves experimental assistance in research on:

  • Determining optimal conditions for biotransformation using microbial cells in a bioreactor.
  • Cloning and expression of relevant genes.
  • Performing enzyme activity assays.
  • Product analysis using chromatography.
  • Delivering oral and written reports.

Qualifications

Required qualifications for the position are:

  • A Master’s degree in Biotechnology or equivalent.
  • Theoretical and practical knowledge in microbiology and molecular biology techniques, microbial cultivations, bioreactor operation, gene cloning and expression, protein purification techniques, analytical techniques like chromatography (HPLC, GC), electrophoresis and use of bioinformatic tools (like YASARA).
  • Good ability in planning and performing experiments,
  • Good ability in collaborating with other researchers and students in the research group.

Consideration will also be given to how your experience and competence, are judged to have the ability needed for the research project.

Additional qualifications for the position are:

  • Some practical experience in related fields is of merit.
  • Good ability for written and oral communication in English.
  • Ability to perform critical review of literature.

Further information 

The position is a fixed term position for 3 months at 100 per cent of full time. Start 2025-03-03 or after agreement.
