Description of workplace

Our research group is intrigued by the transition between uni- and multicellularity on Earth (animal evolution) and within the human body (cancer evolution). We have a highly transdisciplinary approach, merging the worlds of developmental and cancer biology. We are physically located at BMC in Lund and are part of the strategic areas Lund Stem Cell Center (SCC) and Lund University Cancer Center (LUCC). Work tasks and responsibility areas

As a lab engineer you will perform lab work as well as function as an organizing and joining force in the lab. You will be part of projects, function as a link between PI and practical issues in every part of the lab, as well as participate in scientific activities such as seminars and meetings.

Qualifications 

Requirements for the employment are:

  • MSc in biomedical sciences or similar.
  • Experience in practical work using biomedical methods such as PCR, qPCR, immunoprecipitation, DNA extraction, gene manipulations (overexpression/knockout), work with viral vectors, western blot, immunohistochemistry and protein staining, cryosectioning, ELISA, cell culture with primary cells, microfluidics, flow cytometry/FACS with expertise in different instruments.
  • Experience to produce, sort and follow endocycling cells with increased genomic content, all the way to reduction.
  • Experience to work with fruit fly intestines, molecularly and imaging.
  • Experience with experimental setups in hypoxia cabinets and chambers.
  • Experience in handling, and experimental expertise in animal models – including the chick embryo model – through approved training and FELASA certificate. Ability to organise your work.
  • Experience in purchasing and economy.
  • Experience in, and the ability to maintain routines in a lab. Experience in oral and written communication, and be fluent in English

As a person you should be prepared and willing to work within a team with a joint goal, but at the same time be able to work independently.

Merits for the employment are

  • Previous employment as a lab manager.
  • Experience in working abroad. 

More information 

The position is a substitute position, 100% for 12 months. Preferred starting date 1st of February 2025, or as agreed.
