Description of the workplace
The Marcus Järås research team at the Department of Laboratory Medicine within the Faculty of Medicine currently conducts research in immune oncology and is at the forefront of its field. At present, the research team is working on the leukemia stem cell projects and CAR-macrophages. You can read more about our research on our website: Link 1 and Link 2.
The research team is led by Marcus Järås and includes a further 3 staff members. The group is international and comprises research, administration and technical staff. Work duties and areas of responsibility
Genetic damage to bone marrow blood stem cells can cause acute myeloid leukemia (AML), a type of blood cancer associated with low survival. Our research aims to develop new targeted treatments that attack the leukemia stem cells in AML. To this end, we are working new approaches to target leukemia stem cells. This includes the use of CAR-macrophages.
Qualifications
The requirements for the position are:
- Documented experience in leukemia stem cell research.
- Documented experience in CRISPR/Cas9 research.
- Documented experience working on iron-related assays.
- Documented experience working on CAR-macrophages.
- Documented experience working on CD71.
- Documented experience working on advanced flow cytometry.
- Excellent references from previous employers.
- Documented excellent oral and written communication in English.
Great emphasis will be placed on personal characteristics. The assignments require that you have the ability to work independently as well as the ability to work well with others in the research group and researchers outside the subject area.
Additional qualifications for the position are:
-Work with lentiviral vectors.
-Experience working on sequencing.
-Experience in cell culturing.
Research expertise is the foremost criterion for employment. The evaluation of applicants will take account of their research profile, experience and knowledge.
Eligibility
Students with basic eligibility for third-cycle studies are those who
- have completed a second-cycle degree
- have completed courses of at least 240 credits, of which at least 60 credits are from second-cycle courses, or
- have acquired largely equivalent knowledge in some other way, in Sweden or abroad.
The employment of doctoral students is regulated in the Swedish Code of Statues 1998: 80. Only those who are or have been admitted to PhD-studies may be appointed to doctoral studentships. When an appointment to a doctoral studentship is made, the ability of the student to benefit from PhD-studies shall primarily be taken into account. In addition to devoting themselves to their studies, those appointed to doctoral studentships may be required to work with educational tasks, research and administration, in accordance with specific regulations in the ordinance.
