Description of the Workplace
The research group focuses on biomarkers and lung physiology in respiratory and allergic diseases. The group leader is Ellen Tufvesson, and the team consists of a PhD student, a clinical PhD student working part-time, as well as project students and interns. The research group is now looking for an assistant researcher to join the team. The group receives clinical samples and conducts various analyses in cell biology, gene and protein expression, and biomarkers. Research is carried out at the Biomedical Center in Lund (BMC), located near by the Skåne University Hospital in Lund.

Job Duties and Responsibilities
We are looking for a person to work on the following tasks:

  • Handling of patient samples from the airways and blood.
  • Analysis of biomarkers, cell profiles, immunostaining, gene expression, protein expression, etc. Examples of techniques include Nanostring, immunohistochemistry, fluorescence staining, ELISA, PCR, and FACS.
  • Processing and documentation of results and compiling data for publication.
  • Responsibility for implementing new techniques relevant to the group’s airway research.
  • Laboratory supervision of PhD students and students within the group.
  • Presenting results at meetings and conferences.
  • Writing grant applications.

Qualifications
Necessary qualifications for the job:

  • PhD in cell biology related to the airways/allergy.
  • Laboratory experience with various cell biology techniques such as Nanostring, immunohistochemistry, fluorescence staining, ELISA, PCR, and FACS.
  • Knowledge of airway inflammation and allergy.
  • Ability to work independently and analytically.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Proficiency in English (both written and spoken).

Meritorious are:

  • Postdoctoral experience in lung and allergy research.
  • Experience in cell biology-based inflammation research.
  • Knowledge and publications in asthma/allergy.
  • Expertise in Nanostring techniques and bioinformatics.
  • Experience with patient-centered translational research.
  • Experience in handling clinical lung samples.

Other information
The position is a fixed-term employment according to the Special Fixed-term Employment (SÄVA) regulations §5 p1 LAS, and it is full-time. The desired start date is 2025-04-01 or as agreed upon, with an end date of 2026-03-31.
