The development of laser-based plasma diagnostics and experimental development of plasma reforming of hydrocarbons. The plasma diagnostics will concern scattering techniques (Raman, Rayleigh and Thomson scattering) as well as planar laser-induced fluorescence for in situ measurements of radicals in plasma environments. Measurements with photofragmentation laser-induced fluorescence could also be carried out for detection of CH3. Plasma conversion will be carried out on gases and liquids for production of hydrogen, carbon monoxide, ethane, and solid carbon. The development work relies on structured illumination and lock-in analysis for suppression of plasma emission and strong laser-induced scattering.
The research is supported by the Swedish Research Council through the project "Experimental development of plasma reforming of CO2 and CH4".
