Description of the workplace
Anders Wittrup’s group (RNA Therapeutics in Cancer) is located on the Gunnar Nilsson floor in the Kamprad building, directly adjacent to the oncology clinic at SUS Lund. The floor hosts several laboratories primarily focused on research related to primary brain tumors. Anders Wittrup’s group works with various techniques to enhance RNA delivery to tumors, as well as developing methods to study this process.

Tasks and areas of responsibility
As a postdoctoral researcher, you will be responsible for initiating and leading a project aimed at identifying new proteins involved in the cellular machinery for handling intracellular membrane damage. The roles of the identified proteins in the membrane damage process will be studied in detail, and their potential impact on the efficacy of various RNA-based therapeutics will also be investigated.
The work will involve protein and organelle purification, mass spectrometry analysis, cell culture, confocal microscopy, live-cell imaging, and super-resolution microscopy.
As a postdoctoral researcher, you will also be responsible, with some supervision, for image processing using custom-developed code and software, as well as data analysis and manuscript writing.
Eligibility
Eligibility for employment as a postdoctoral researcher is limited to those who have a doctoral degree or a foreign degree deemed equivalent to a doctoral degree. This eligibility requirement must be fulfilled at the latest by the time the appointment decision is made, and proof that the eligibility requirement has been fulfilled must have been received by that time. Preference will be given to those who have completed their degree no more than three (3) years ago. If there are special reasons, the doctoral degree may have been obtained earlier. Special reasons refer to leave of absence due to illness, parental leave, clinical service, positions of trust in trade union organisations or other similar circumstances.
Assessment criteria
At Lund University, a postdoctoral position shall provide the opportunity for scientific and educational merit. In the first instance, there is scope for merit in research, but also for some higher education pedagogical training. Teaching may also be included in the duties. In the case of employment as a postdoctoral researcher, scientific ability in the subject area will be taken into account.

The position is a fixed-term employment for two years, with full-time (100%) commitment, starting March 15th 2025, or as agreed. The position is based in Sweden, and you are expected to work on-site in Lund.
An employment as a post-doctoral fellow is limited to a minimum of two years, maximum three years according to the collective agreement on fixed-term employment as a postdoctoral fellow (Arbetsgivarverket). An employment as a postdoctoral fellow is intended as an initial step in the career and as an opportunity to further deepen and broaden research expertise.
