Description of the workplace
Lund Stem Cell Center (SCC) at Lund University is a world-renowned hub for stem cell research, dedicated to translating groundbreaking scientific discoveries into clinical applications that improve human health. Established in 2008, SCC is home to 41 research groups conducting cutting-edge, interdisciplinary research in the field of stem cells. Our work spans multiple aspects of developmental and stem cell biology, fostering excellence in both research and education to train the next generation of scientists.

SCC is an international and dynamic workplace, with researchers from over 40 nationalities and a strong sense of community. As an umbrella organization, SCC brings together researchers from various departments within the Faculty of Medicine at Lund University, many of whom maintain close collaborations with Skåne University Hospital.

The Cell and Gene Therapy Core is a specialized unit within SCC that provides and develops high-quality services for both SCC researchers and external research groups. Our offerings include iPSC reprogramming, CRISPR gene editing and experimental design, as well as AAV and lentivirus production. Our mission is to facilitate world-class research and continuously enhance the quality and success of SCC and its research groups.

Work duties and areas of responsibility
As part of our team, you will be involved in delivering a wide range of services to researchers, including but not limited to:

  • Standard molecular biology techniques (e.g., RNA extraction, qRT-PCR)
  • Cell culture, including iPSC culture and reprogramming
  • CRISPR gene editing and vector production
  • Flow cytometry (FACS)
  • General lab duties such as aliquoting and inventory management

Additionally, you will actively contribute to the development and standardization of both existing and new methods and services. The role requires a high level of independence, ensuring excellent service quality and meticulous documentation. Please note that the position is primarily laboratory-based with routine tasks, and does not include individual research projects.

Given the dynamic nature of our services, we seek candidates who are flexible, service-minded, and strong team players. As both the Core Facility and SCC operate in an international environment, fluency in English (both written and spoken) is a requirement.

Qualifications
The requirements for the position are:

  • Degree in Biology or a related field
  • Documented experience in cell culture
  • Excellent communication and documentation skills
  • Strong ability to collaborate in a team-oriented environment

Research competence is the main criterion for employment. When assessing applicants, great emphasis will also be held at personal qualities. The work tasks require you to be flexible, service-minded, and a strong team player.

Further information
The employment is a full time (100%) fixed term employment of 12 months according to SÄVA. Start date is May 1st, 2025, or according to agreement.
