Description of the workplace
The Department of Translational Medicine, at the Faculty of Medicine of Lund University, seeks 1-2 Postdoctoral Research Fellows with a focus in epidemiology, biostatistics, and computational science who will work within the Integrative Pancreatic Cancer Research (iPanCare) Lab led by Assistant Professor Wang, as part of the SciLifeLab & Wallenberg National Program for Data-Driven Life Science (DDLS) (https://www.scilifelab.se/data-driven/).
iPanCare lab conducts research in the filed of precision diagnostics and medicine of pancreatic cancer. Members in iPanCare Lab will be automatically enrolled in the national programs of SciLifeLab and DDLS and have chance of attending national schools, various research activities and retreats, which will facilitate their nationwide network and multidisciplinary collaborations. Working with a new Principle Investigator, lab members will benefit from first-hand guidance and freedom of exploring exciting projects within the research area. Our team will be a hub with great young talents from different levels, e.g., postdocs, PhD students, master students and undergraduates, locating in the core Clinical Cancer Center at Malmö.

Description of the project
As a postdoc, you will develop strategies for precision prevention, early diagnosis, individual risk stratification, and personalized medicine approaches for pancreatic cancer by leveraging integrative approaches of genetic epidemiology, molecular epidemiology, pharmaco-epidemiology, and machine learning using large-scale population-based cohorts, national registries, electronic healthcare records, and multi-centre clinical studies.
Work duties and responsibilities
At Lund University, a postdoctoral position should provide opportunities for scientific and pedagogical qualifications. Primarily, there is scope for qualifications in research, but also for some higher education pedagogy training. Teaching may also be part of the job duties.
The position will involve application of mixture of classical and novel methodological and collaborative research in pancreatic cancer. The methodology may include, but is not limited to, statistical modelling using risk profile data from population-based cohorts, genetic data from family-based studies, multi-omics data from cohort participants (e.g., genomics, proteomics, and metabolomics), biomarker data from electronic health records, and imaging data from clinical centres.
The postdoc will work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams nationally and internationally, and require innovative and creative thinking, independent management and analytic skills of various types of data, scientific writing and communication ability.

About the employment
The employment is a fixed-term employment for two years, with full-time (100%) commitment, starting April 1, 2025, or as agreed. The position is based in Sweden, Malmö, you are expected to work on-site.
The employment is limited to a minimum of two years, maximum three years, according to the collective agreement on fixed-term employment as a postdoctoral researcher (the Swedish Employers' Association). A postdoctoral position is intended as an initial step in a career and as an opportunity to further deepen and broaden research expertise.
