Work duties
A research group in Nanochemistry and Spectroscopy (Asst. Prof. Dmitry Baranov) is looking for a project assistant for a short period to contribute to the creation of a database of nanocrystal superstructures, which will advance the goal of high-throughput nanomaterial synthesis within the ERC project Prometheus. The project assistant's tasks include analysis of primary scientific literature and application of machine learning methods to organize and interpret unstructured knowledge. The main goal of this position is to develop the foundation for a knowledge database that can be used in the future to accelerate the synthesis of nanomaterials.

The tasks of this position include:

  • Analysis of primary scientific literature
  • Application of machine learning methods to structure and interpret unstructured knowledge
  • Development of a database of nanocrystal superstructures
  • Use of programming tools such as Python
  • Documentation and compilation of results

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in physics, materials science, computer science, mathematics or a related field, or equivalent education deemed relevant by the employer
  • Good knowledge of English, both spoken and written
  • Working knowledge of Python and/or other relevant programming tools
  • Previous knowledge and experience of coding, machine learning and database creation
  • Independence, ability to collaborate and work in a team

Terms of employment
The employment is for a fixed time for a period of twelve weeks at the 50% of full-time equivalent.
