Project assistant in urban ecology at Divison of Evolutionary Ecology & Infection Biology at the Department of Biology

Work duties

We are looking for a project assistant to:
1) monitor the breeding attempts in nest boxes;
2) ring adult and chick birds;
3) measure biometrics of birds and
4) daily upload of data in databases.
The assistant is expected to work mainly in a team.

The work is part of the Division of Evolutionary Ecology & Infection Biology at Lund University. The position will be based within the urban avian ecology research group led by Prof Caroline Isaksson, within the Department of Biology. Qualifications

Applicants must be able to demonstrate evidence of:

  • PhD in urban ecology
  • Some experience with fieldwork and ringing of birds, preferably with nest box breeding birds
  • Good physical condition is important in order to be able to carry heavy field equipment for a full day, 5 days a week
  • Database experience 
  • Good team working skills, but also the ability to work independently.
  • Good written and oral proficiency in English

Other merits

  • Ability to listen and follow sampling instructions.
  • Precision during data entry

Consideration will also be given to i.e. good collaborative skills and independence, and how the applicant’s experience and skills complement and strengthen the administrative work within the research group/division, as well as contribute to its future development.

Terms of employment

Fixed-term employment for 2 months full-time (100%), starting date is 14th of April.
