The Department of Clinical Sciences, Malmö (IKVM) is now announcing a vacancy for a position at the doctoral program and employment as a doctoral student within cardiovascular research and immunology.
The position as a doctoral student is located at the research group Cardiovascular Research - Immune Regulation with operations located at the Clinical Research Centre (CRC), an inspiring scientific environment in Malmö's beautiful hospital area. The group's research is conducted in close collaboration with other researchers and research groups in experimental and clinical cardiovascular research and diabetes research.

Description of the project
The PhD student will study how immune cells affect atherosclerosis development through studies of animal models and human tissue. Through translational projects, the PhD student will investigate how checkpoint receptor inhibition used as a treatment in cancer affects the risk of cardiovascular disease. The duties include work with flow cytometry, immunohistochemistry, image analysis, gene expression analysis, tissue sampling, cell culture, statistics, data analysis, etc.
Work duties and responsibilities
The main tasks of a doctoral student are to devote themselves to their doctoral education and therefore you will be both admitted as a student and employed at Lund University.
The doctoral student will run research projects and be responsible for planning, executing and reporting the project in collaboration with supervisors. The doctoral student will also work with international partners and is expected to participate in international meetings and conferences. A limited amount of teaching at bachelor's or master's level may occur.

About the employment
The position is a fixed-term position for a total of four years, 100% with a start date of the 1st September 2025 or as agreed. The main rule is that employment at Lund University is conducted in Sweden, so you are expected to be able to perform your work on site in Malmö.

Additional information
For doctoral students, there is a specific salary scale linked to each faculty and salary is set according to the current salary scale. Interviews will be conducted in mid-June. Please note that degree certificates from master's programmes are not required when applying for the position but are required to be admitted as a doctoral student.
