Description of the workplace
The Proteostasis in Stem Cells lab is located at Division of Molecular Medicine and Gene Therapy at Biomedical center A12 and seeks a curious and motivated laboratory assistant with a background in stem cells and molecular biology. The lab, led by Associate Professor Agatheeswaran Subramaniam, employs a combination of cell biology and biochemical assays to uncover the role of ubiquitin ligases in hematopoietic stem cells and leukemia development. The group currently consists of two postdocs, a PhD student, and three Master’s students. The research team closely collaborates with Lund University hospital and Swedish national infrastructures such as BioMS and CBCS. As a workplace, we safeguard a positive work environment with respect and consideration in our relations with one another.

What we offer
Lund University is a public authority, which means that you will have special benefits, generous annual leave and an advantageous occupational pension. We also have a flexitime agreement that creates good conditions for work/life balance. Read more on the University’s website about being a Lund University employee, Work at Lund University

Work duties and areas of responsibility
Ubiquitin ligases regulate the abundance of their target proteins through polyubiquitination and proteasomal degradation. With supervision from PI, the candidate will develop strategies to harness ubiquitin ligases and direct it towards the proteins of interest. The successful candidate will work in primary hematopoietic stem cells and will employ a set of molecular biology and cell biology assays. Work responsibilities include primary cell culture, FACS, cell sorting and protein abundance analysis.

Qualifications
The requirements for the position are:

  • A Master’s degree in Biomedicine or Molecular biology or a related discipline
  • Documented experience in lentiviral vectors, FACS analysis and cell sorting
  • Experience with protein analysis such as western blotting, immunoprecipitation, proximity labelling.
  • Experience with In vitro culture of primary hematopoietic stem cells
  • A strong theoretical background in ubiquitin-proteasome system and haematopoiesis
  • Good analytical ability, drive and a good ability to collaborate

The candidate is expected to be well organized, work independently and should have the ability to coordinate the project with other lab members and collaborators.

Research expertise is the foremost criterion for employment. The evaluation of applicants will take account of their research profile, experience and knowledge.
