Lund University, LTH,

Lund University was founded in 1666 and is repeatedly ranked among the world’s top universities. The University has around 47 000 students and more than 8 800 staff based in Lund, Helsingborg and Malmö. We are united in our efforts to understand, explain and improve our world and the human condition.

Lund University welcomes applicants with diverse backgrounds and experiences. We regard gender equality and diversity as a strength and an asset.

The Department of Electrical and Information Technology (EIT) has for a long time conducted high-quality research and teaching activites within integrated circuits (ICs). The research activities include - but are not restricted to - wireless communication, signal sensing, energy-efficient computing systems, artificial intelligence, and machine learning, which has resulted in many collaborations with industry and other research institutes. Most of our research projects are industry-oriented and applied, and our graduate students are a sought-after resource in the academic as well as industrial sectors. The department hosts three competence Centers related to wireless communication: ACT, ClassIC, and Nextg2Com.

Subject

Analogue integrated circuit design

Subject description

Energy- and performance-optimized ICs are critical components for the digitalisation of industry and society. Analog ICs are indispensable in many applications, including 6G, signal sensing, advanced integration (e.g., so-called Chiplets), and interfacing to emergying computing system. Furthermore, the increasing pace of smart electrification has created a wider research demand that we need to address. Therefore, EIT intends to hire a senior lecturer specialized in analog IC design for, but not limited to, the aforementioned applications.

Work duties

Work duties include:

  • Research within the subject area.
  • Teaching in the first, second and third study cycles.
  • Supervision of degree projects and of doctoral students.
  • Actively seeking and securing external research funding.
  • Collaboration with industry and wider society at large.
  • Administration related to the work duties listed above.
  • Work duties may change over time.

Qualification requirements

Appointment to senior lecturer requires that the applicant has:

  • A PhD or corresponding research competence or professional expertise considered important with regard to the subject matter of the post and the work duties it will involve.
  • Demonstrated teaching expertise.
  • Completed five weeks of training in higher education teaching and learning, or acquired equivalent knowledge by other means, unless there are valid reasons.

Assessment criteria

When assessing the applicants, special importance will be given to research and teaching expertise within the subject, Circuits and Systems, Analogue IC Design, RF Microelectronics).

The assessment criteria specify the aspects to be taken into account, and the level to be achieved, in order for the assessment criteria to be deemed fulfilled. The following assessment criteria must be fulfilled for appointment to senior lecturer:

  • A good national and international standing as a researcher. The requirement for international experience shall be assessed with consideration to the character and traditions of the subject.
  • Good teaching ability, including a good ability to conduct, develop and lead teaching and other educational activities on different levels and using a variety of teaching methods.
  • An ability to supervise doctoral students to achieve a PhD.
  • An ability to collaborate with wider society and communicate his or her activities.
  • A general ability to lead and develop activities.

Additional requirements

  • Very good oral and written proficiency in English.
  • Significant documented research experience (e.g. from doctoral and possibly postdoctoral studies) from another university/institute or relevant experience from the industrial/public sector.
  • Collaborative skills, initiative and the ability to solve work tasks independently.

Other qualifications

Ability to attract external research funding in competition.

The extent to which the applicant, through their experience and skills, may complement and strengthen ongoing research, undergraduate education, departmental innovation, and how they can contribute to the future development of the department will also be taken into consideration.
