Researcher in Sociology for VR Project – 50% for Five Months

We are looking for a researcher for the VR project: Following the money: cross-national study of pharmaceutical industry payments to medical associations and patient organizations.

The researcher will contribute to an ongoing interdisciplinary research project on conflicts of interest, pharmaceutical marketing, and transparency in relationships between the pharmaceutical industry and healthcare. The researcher will lead the collection and analysis of data from Sweden and the UK and lead the writing of one or more scientific articles in collaboration with other project participants. A high degree of independence is required.

Tasks
The researcher will lead data collection from, and lead qualitative and quantitative data analysis of, pharmaceutical advertising and regulatory decisions in Sweden and the UK regarding the marketing of new drugs and financial data from the pharmaceutical industry's transparency databases.
The researcher will write in English for journals in the fields of medical sociology, health policy, and social medicine together with other project participant as well as contribute to the dissemination of research results outside academia, especially within healthcare.

Requirements and Merits
For this position, you must have:

A PhD in a subject and orientation relevant to the position, such as sociology, social medicine, or similar. Previous experience of publishing in medical sociology, health policy, or social medicine. Documented competence in qualitative and quantitative data analysis, particularly regarding interdisciplinary research on pharmaceuticals. Good knowledge of the organization of healthcare and regulations for interactions with the pharmaceutical industry. Good command of Swedish and English, both spoken and written. Ability to work both independently and in a group.

Employment conditions
The position is a part time employment of 50% over a period of 5 months starting in August 2025.
