Description of the workplace

The Robotics Lab at LTH has a number of research projects. One project is the EUROSTAR project "RIACT" which aims to evaluate off-the-shelf computer vision libraries for use in our SkiROS system. The goal of the project is to evaluate the different software packages straight out of the box, i.e., to identify the baseline performance of each package and then integrate each of the methods into a 'robot skill' that can then be automatically controlled on the robot via the SkiROS software.

Work duties

The duties of a teaching assistant must comprise educational tasks, administration or participation in research.

The duties includes:

  • Software development of computer vision functions in SkiROS
  • Evaluation of computer vision functions under different conditions
  • Implementation of novel methods and comparing with baseline methods

You will work with different colleagues in the robotic lab and you will participate in project meetings with international partners. 

Qualification requirements

Only those admitted to first or second-cycle courses and study programs at the faculty may be employed as teaching assistants. 


Required qualifications:

  • Admitted to first or second-cycle courses in "Machine Learning, Systems and Control"
  • Good oral and written proficiency in English  
  • Very good knowledge in python programming
  • Very good knowledge in Image Analysis
  • Good knowledge in modelling and learning from data
  • Good knowledge in Artificial Neural Networks and Deep Learning
  • Good grades in courses on Image processing, artificial Neural Networks and deep learning and modelling and learning from data
  • Good knowledge in ROS2, SkiROS and robot programming
  • Good knowledge in NVIDIA ISAAC Sim

Additional requirements

  • Experience with scikit-learn, PyTorch

Further information

The position is a fixed term position from 2025-05-01 until 2025-06-30 period at 50 per cent of full time. The employment as a Teaching Assistant is regulated in the Higher Education Ordinance (SFS 2017:284), 5 chapter 8-12 §§. The position follows the work time agreement (Flextidsavtal) for technical and administrative staff.
