The Department of Design Sciences is Hiring an Artistic Senior Lecturer in Industrial Design

With this position, the Department of Design Sciences and the Faculty of Engineering (LTH) at Lund University, want to continue the focus on industrial design and artistic competence in education and research and to strengthen the intertwining of education and research environments in artistic and qualitative methods. The position aims to integrate artistic research into our industrial design programmes, and to contribute nationally and internationally to the facilitation of new knowledge in art, technology and society in the field of industrial design.

The position is located at the Division of Industrial Design at the Department of Design Sciences at LTH, Lund University. Design Sciences is an interdisciplinary department that integrates design, technology and people in its research and education. Industrial design is a creative and intellectual activity that questions, shapes and visualises objects, systems and interactions. The discipline of design is embedded in cultural frameworks. Today, almost any issue can be subject to design processes. Our industrial design programme in a university environment is continuously evolving in relation to ongoing changes in society, business and research. For this position, we are looking for an artistic senior lecturer who can actively and with great commitment take on the artistic programmes. More specifically, this is linked to how practical-based knowledge can be conveyed, communicated and assessed in the artistic process, how it is expressed in both research and education, and how this can be quality assured. Artistic research and doctoral education on an artistic basis is still a young discipline that is seeking its forms of expression. We welcome applicants who have a PhD on either an artistic or scientific basis. With innovative ideas, you are expected to develop the activities in a creative spirit that enriches the industrial design environment specifically and LTH as a whole. You are also expected to lead and participate in research projects related to the subject, seek your own external funding, and participate in the national and international research context. These tasks require a high physical presence at LTH. The School of Industrial Design is rooted in a large campus that encourages an interdisciplinary approach and professional interaction.

The position will be accompanied by a PhD position that is planned to be advertised when the Senior lecturer is recruited.
