Description of the Workplace
The research group develops and implements decision support systems for emergency care, primarily within the emergency department, and is led by Ulf Ekelund. The group includes a professor, a senior lecturer, several associate professors, as well as several PhD holders and doctoral students. Many members of the group are emergency physicians who also work clinically at emergency departments in the regions of Skåne and Halland. The group collaborates with other professors and research teams both within and outside of Sweden.
We are now seeking an Assistant Researcher to join the group and work on the further development of our AI-models and their implementation in emergency care.

The research is conducted at the Skåne University Hospital in Lund.

Job Duties and Responsibilities
We are looking for a person to work on the following tasks:

  • Further develop our AI-based decision support models for emergency care, primarily for patients presenting with chest pain
  • Support implementation in routine clinical practice, including software adaptation
  • Collaborate with healthcare IT staff on various digitalization and IT-related matters
  • Conduct independent research projects

Other worktasks may also be included.

Qualifications
Necessary qualifications for the job:

  • A PhD in Medical science
  • A Master of Science in Computer Science and Engineering
  • Experience in developing AI models for emergency medicine, based on ECG and blood tests for patients with chest pain
  • Experience with neural networks and other types of AI models
  • Advanced programming skills
  • Excellent command of both spoken and written scientific Swedish and English

Other information
The position is a fixed-term employment according to the Special Fixed-term Employment (SÄVA) regulations §5 p1 LAS, and it is full-time. The desired start date is 2025-06-01 or as agreed upon, with an end date of 2026-05-30.
