The Department of Process and Life Science Engineering (PLE) at Lund University is located at Kemicentrum, one of the Nordics' largest centers for education and research in the field of chemistry. PLE has around 150 employees, of which around 65 are PhD students. The department offers a broad competence in areas such as chemical engineering, food technology, biotechnology and technical microbiology. The research and education at PLE spans the entire subject of chemistry and includes both undergraduate and graduate education. The Department of Process Engineering and Applied Biosciences (PLE) at Lund University works actively to ensure a good working environment through several initiatives and routines. Description of the workplace


The appointment is part of the department's research activities in stormwater management. The research is both theoretical and experimental with elements of computational technology and mathematical modelling and is based on close collaboration with industry and its suppliers.

Work duties

This position as researcher is focused on developing digital solutions for the analysis and design of stormwater management systems. The position involves development and verification of computation technology for model-based analysis and optimization of process systems, in this case systems for managing stormwater in extreme situations. The work is carried out in collaboration with other employees in nearby projects and with the project's company contacts.

Qualifications

Appointment to a position as a researcher requires that the applicant has a PhD.

Required qualifications:

  • a PhD or equivalent research qualification within chemical engineering or water and environmental engineering
  • In-depth knowledge in process engineering and process automation
  • Knowledge and skills in technical computing and programming
  • very good oral and written proficiency in English

Additional requirements:

  • documented experiences with process systems, process automation and computation technology,
  • also documented experience of technical programming in e.g. Python or Java are a merit.
  • Experience with modelling and simulation in stormwater management are an added advantage.
  • assessed ability to work independently and ability to formulate and solve scientific problems.

The position is a fixed term position for 10 months, starting 2025-05-15 or after agreement at 10 per cent of full time.
