Description of the Workplace
The position is based within the research group led by Professor Niklas Marklund. The group currently consists of two senior researchers, one senior expert, one research engineer, and typically several students. The research project focuses on molecular aspects and novel treatment strategies for experimental traumatic brain injury. We are now seeking an associate researcher to contribute to this work. The research is conducted at the Wallenberg Neuroscience Center, located within the Biomedical Center (BMC) in Lund, in close proximity to Skåne University Hospital.

Job Duties and Responsibilities
We are looking for a person to work on the following tasks:

  • Conduct and independently lead studies on traumatic brain injury
  • Design and plan research studies
  • Perform experimental work
  • Analyze and compile research findings
  • Actively contribute as co-author to additional ongoing research projects

Other related duties may also be included.

Qualifications
Necessary qualifications for the job:

  • PhD in Neurosurgery
  • Solid knowledge of experimental traumatic brain injury in mouse models
  • Proven expertise in immunohistochemistry, qRT-PCR, and Western Blot techniques
  • Proven expertise in blood sampling and perfusion methods
  • Proven expertise in imaging techniques and myelin staining
  • Ability to work independently and analytically
  • Strong communication skills
  • Proficiency in English (both written and spoken)

Meritorious are:

  • Experience and training in statistical methods
  • Own publications related to experimental traumatic brain injury
  • Knowledge of animal models of traumatic brain injury

Other information
The position is a fixed-term employment according to the Special Fixed-term Employment (SÄVA) regulations §5 p1 LAS, and it is full-time. The desired start date is 2025-09-29 or as agreed upon, with an end date of 2026-03-31.
