Teaching assistant at Industrial Design

Description of the workplace

We are looking for one to three teaching assistants to join us at the Department of Design Sciences. The positions are based at the Division of Industrial Design within the Department of Design Sciences at LTH, Lund University. Design Sciences is an interdisciplinary department that integrates design, technology, and people in its research and education. Industrial Design is a creative and intellectual practice that questions, shapes, and visualizes objects, systems, and interactions.

Work duties

As a teaching assistant, your tasks may vary and are intended to provide insight into the academic environment of the faculty where you are studying. We are looking for three students who want to be part of our teaching and contribute to the development of our activities within Industrial Design.

The duties includes:

Supporting course work, workshops, and public-facing activities such as exhibitions, as well as assisting in our soft-tool workshops. For example, providing student support during workshops in Adobe Creative Suite, Illustrator, and Photoshop; assisting in the sewing and ceramics workshops; helping with 3D printing in the student lab; and planning and organizing material storage.

Qualification requirements

Only those admitted to first or second-cycle courses and study programmes at the faculty may be employed as teaching assistants.

Required qualifications:

• You must be admitted to one of the Industrial Design programmes
• You have completed one or more courses in Industrial Design
• You have very good oral and written proficiency in English
• You have strong collaboration skills and the ability to work independently
• You are well-organized and capable of planning and coordinating activities as described above

Additional requirements:

In-depth knowledge in one or more of the following areas:

• Adobe Creative
• Illustrator
• Photoshop 
• Instagram
• 3D-printing
• Textile
• Ceramics

Further information

The position is a fixed term position at 10 percent of full time, starting in August 2025 or by agreement, although not beyond May 2026. The employment as a Teaching Assistant is regulated in the Higher Education Ordinance (SFS 2017:284), 5 chapter 8-12 §§. Employment as a teaching assistant may not correspond to more than 50 percent of a full-time post. Duties must comprise educational tasks, administration or participation in research or artistic research.

Teaching assistants shall be employed for an indefinite period, however, for no longer than one year. These appointments may be extended. The total employment period as a teaching assistant may not, however, exceed three years.
